The story explores the strength of the tradition and the profound desire of breaking free.

THE STORY

Full length, in – depth visually refined portrait of the last generation of wom­­­en doing physical jobs in one of coalmines in southern Poland.

The three women are setting the new rules in the traditional Silesian environment: now the women are working physically, shovelling, cleaning the machines, collecting the scrap, when their husbands, ex coalminers, stay at home to take care of the household. The characters now have to question their conventional roles in the family of a wife and a husband, as they had been taught over the generations. It causes tensions and humorous as well as rebellious moments between all family members. In this feminine setting all eight daughters witness the new situation. The drama comes, when one of the women wants to fallow her dream and starts cosmetic course, what provokes other women to question their positions and life decisions. In the same time one of the daughters starts working in the coal- mine and her family pushes her to continue the tradition when she encounters doubts.
